On the trail you will spend the day hiking, swimming, and exploring forests and golden sand beaches en route to Anchorage. You’ll be met with a cup of tea or cold beer once you arrive at the Anchorage campground where camp assistants will show you to your elegant accommodation. The day finishes with wine and a gourmet meal prepared by our staff.
Day 2 Anchorage – Awaroa Inlet
Approx. 8 hours – 23.1kms or 7 hours 19.4kms with available tidal shortcut at Torrent Bay
After breakfast you will begin your day by walking along the wonderful beach at Anchorage before heading on to Torrent Bay and the iconic Falls River swing bridge. Further up you will find Bark Bay, a great place to eat lunch and go for a swim. From this lovely spot you’ll head up the track’s largest ascent through stands of mānuka before walking back down to sea level to Tonga Quarry. A little further on you will discover Onetahuti Bay where an almost perfectly crescent shaped beach awaits you. You’ll be able to take off your shoes and enjoy walking barefoot along the beach before heading up and over to the campsite in Awaroa.
Our Glamping operation will be set up in a private scenic campground. You’ll be able to wander in, enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or a cold beer, and take time to enjoy this perfect place. A gourmet meal prepared by our staff will be served with wine as the evening develops.
Day 3 Awaroa Inlet – Totaranui and water taxi return to Marahau
Approx. 2.5 hours – 7.1kms
After a wholesome breakfast with coffee and tea, our camp assistant will provide your lunch before you head out to explore the area and make your way to the Awaroa Crossing. After having more fun on the beach you will make the final ascent to the popular camping spot of Totaranui.
From Totaranui the Aquataxi will pick you up and return you to Marahau, passing all the beautiful golden sand beaches that you explored during your trip. Transportation to Nelson/Motueka conveniently departs from the Aquataxi base.
