Imagine immersing yourself in the magic of the Abel Tasman Track.

Iconic golden sand beaches – the sea so clear and yet so blue, native forest with its multiple green hues. All this caresses your senses as you walk through this picture of perfection.

Then at the end of the day you are met with a cold beer or cup of tea, nibbles and a gourmet meal served in this magical place.

After all this beauty and sustenance, sleep peacefully on a  comfortable bed listening to the sounds of nature as you drift off to sleep.

This is “glamping” – elegant camping – and it is available on the Abel Tasman Track.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Marahau to Anchorage

Approximately 4 hours / 12.4 kilometres

We pick you up from your accommodation in the Nelson/Motueka area at approximately 7.30 am and transport you to Marahau (arriving there about 9.30am).

Check-in your bags for luggage transfers, collect your lunch and off you go!

Spend the day hiking, swimming, exploring the forest, the track and the golden sand beaches en route to Anchorage.

Our glamping operation will be set up in the campground at Anchorage. On arrival, enjoy a cup of tea or cold beer and our camp assistant will show you to your wonderful elegant accommodation.

A gourmet meal prepared by our staff will be served with wine at the end of the day. Enjoy!

Day 2 – Anchorage – Onatahuti Beach

Approximately 6 hours / 17.8 kilometres – or 5 hours / 14.1 kilometres with available tidal shortcut at Torrent Bay

After breakfast begin by walking along the wonderful beach at Anchorage, pass civilized Torrent Bay before heading up and over and to the iconic Falls River swing bridge and further to Bark Bay. This is a lovely spot for lunch and perhaps a swim. From this lovely bay the track heads up the largest ascent on the whole trip ending up at back at sea level at Tonga Quarry and on to Onetahuti Bay where a wonderful beachside campsite is our home for the night.

Again our glamping operation will be set up in the wonderful campground there. So wander in  – enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or cold beer and take time to enjoy this perfect place.

A gourmet meal prepared by our staff will be served with wine as the evening develops. Enjoy!

Day 3 Onatahuti Beach – Totaranui and water taxi return to Marahau

Approximately 4 hours / 12 kilometres

Begin after a wonderful breakfast with a lovely walk along crescent shaped Onetahuti Beach. A boardwalk takes you off the beach and up a gentle ascent to a saddle with a descent to Awaroa Lodge. About 20 minutes from there is the wide tidal crossing of Awaroa Inlet,  then it is into some wonderful podocarp forest before bursting out on the golden sand of Waiharakeke Bay and Goat Bay before the final ascent over to the popular camping spot of Totaranui. Once at Totaranui the Aquataxi will pick us up and return you past all those golden sand beaches to Marahau. Our land transport to Nelson/Motueka departs conveniently from the Aquataxi base dropping you at your Nelson accommodations.
